quakesmartIn early 2008, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Mitigation Directorate created a multi-faceted information program called QuakeSmart. QuakeSmart disseminates earthquake mitigation information and educational materials to businesses in communities where damaging earthquakes are most likely to occur.

The program's mission is to encourage at-risk businesses to become "QuakeSmart" and maintain on-going earthquake hazard mitigation efforts throughout the year. Ultimately, the goal of QuakeSmart is to disseminate mitigation messaging to all citizens affected by earthquakes.

Business Continuity Planning

In these tough financial times, business owners know every penny counts and failing to plan for the unexpected can close the doors forever. Having a business continuity plan is no longer an option – it’s a necessity.

The Institute for Business & Home Safety’s Open for Business® suite of business continuity tools is designed to help your small to mid-sized business reduce the potential for loss should disaster strike, and prepare in advance to reopen quickly should you be forced to close.
